  • Abstract
Analysis for the propagation of shear waves in an internal magnetoelastic monoclinic layer sandwiched between two magnetoelastic monoclinic half spaces with irregularity in the lower interface of the layer has been investigated. Keeping in mind the real earth scenario, the geometry of the problem is considered. We consider the combined irregularity with finite span, where the coupled effect of monoclinic and magnetoelastic medium has been discussed. The dispersion equation has been obtained in a closed form. In absence of magnetic field and irregularity of the medium, the dispersion equation agrees with the equation of classical case. Finally, the results obtained theoretically have been verified numerically and has been illustrated graphically. Hence it has been shown that phase velocity of SH waves depends not only on the wave number and depth of the irregularity but layer structure also.
