Abstract
Research results on bremsstrahlung targets for terawatt electron beams are presented in the current paper. Much attention is paid to the study of bremsstrahlung target devices that provide for the maximum X-ray yield at quantum energy of ≤ 100 keV. Two versions of the target device structure were studied: the target in an azimuthal magnetic field, and the target in a longitudinal magnetic field of the bottleneck structure. Various components were considered as materials for X-ray emission, as well as the influence of characteristic radiation (K, L) upon the surface dose formation. Properties of a gas target (Xenon) were studied. The studies were performed both by computer simulation with using the GEANT 4 software toolkit, and experimentally, on the accelerator with pulse power of up to 1011 W.
