  • Abstract
    Iterative pre-copy is a major mechanism for achieving live migration of virtual machines. The page duplication activity has an adverse impact on computing internet-related applications. In this paper, a two-phase pre-copy strategy is proposed for reducing the adverse effect. The appropriate timing of changing phase is also provided in this paper. It has been shown that the two-phase strategy reduces the number of duplicated pages without increasing the downtime guaranteed by the typical one-phase strategy.
