Research on strategic analysis model and development approaches for institutions of higher education

This paper applies the Boston matrix to establish an analysis model of Hubei higher educational universities´ development status based on researching 31 regional higher education institutes´ scales, growth rates and R&D input in China. It is first time to put forward the conclusion that Hubei´s higher education still exists in “question product”, rather than “star product”. Then the paper analyzes competitive advantages & disadvantages, strategic posture of Hubei higher educational institutes; finally proposes strategic approaches which could promote further development of higher education in Hubei province and realize the objective of “Educational Powerful Province”.
