Abstract
The article reported an investigation into the mechanism of helmet-mounted sight system(HMSS) based on photogrammetry techniques. It demonstrated how was the fire force system controlled by line of pilots´ sight. Pose and attitude of helmet were estimated by detecting 4 LEDs installed on the helmet through two cameras. Helmet and pilot´s head were regarded as rigid body. The model defining interrelations between sight and LED projection image was described in detail. The working principle of the system was validated on our simulation platform, which was developed with OpenGL APIs and in VC environment. In order to get the accurate image, the projecting model should be adjusted according to the calibration result of real camera. The simulation result was in accordance with preset pose and attitude of helmet. This article described the structure of helmet, model of estimating 3D pose from 2D images, imaging simulation of camera. It may provide help for understanding, designing and improving the HMSS in some extent.
