Abstract
For several years, ontology has been an independent area of study in the Information Technology field (IT). Originating in the realms of philosophy, it emphasizes the importance of defining reality. In fact, with the gradual digitization of industrial data, the need for accurate, differentiated definitions is increasing. This is particularly true of the management of spare parts for French nuclear power plants. Ontology, organized as systems, makes it possible to develop a formal method for classifying spare parts.
