  • Abstract
    One of the possibilities for managing XML data is the use of relational databases. However, the structure of XML documents can vary immensely, even when the data describe concepts from the same application domain. Such heterogeneity makes the mapping process from XML to a relational schema harder. To solve this issue, we present an ontology-based approach for generating and for representing equivalences between XML data and relational schema. The proposal is part of the X2Rel framework, an environment for storing, querying, and managing heterogeneous XML data in relational databases.
