  • Abstract
Net primary productivity (NPP) is an important indicator to the response of vegetation to climate change. Based on CASA-NPP ecosystem model driven by remote sensed data, air temperature, precipitation and solar radiation data, this paper estimated NPP for the terrestrial ecosystem in East Asia region (70°E-170°E, 10°N-70°N) and incorporated with atmospheric circulation factors to study the response of annual NPP to climate change during 1982-1999. The response signal of annual NPP to temperature is strong and the leading four NPP-temperature paired modes explain 93.58% of the NPP-temperature covariance. The area with interpretation ratio of the nine atmospheric circulation factors to NPP deviation over 50% accounts for 72.17% of the study area.
