  • Abstract
The adaptive cross approximation (ACA) algorithm enhanced characteristic basis function method (CBFM) is studied in this article. The ACA algorithm is employed not only to fast calculate off-diagonal submatrices of the reduced matrix, but also to efficiently generate the CBFs and the diagonal submatrices of the reduced matrix, which makes the new method more efficient. Numerical results about the electromagnetic scattering from perfect electric conducting (PEC) targets are given to demonstrate the merits of the new method.
