Abstract
This paper describes methods and experimental verification of losses in a ferromagnetic core of a sinusoidal filter SKY3FSM130-400 (130A/400V) powered with a frequency inverter. Two versions of the same filter are studied. It is the split core filter and a non-split core filter. The losses are verified with two different experimental methods and found to be in good agreement with the proposed simplified calculation method. It is found out that losses for a frequency inverter powered application are up to 2 times higher that losses causes only by the fundamental current harmonic component.
