  • Abstract
In this paper an automatic recoverable organic fuse composed of Au/Poly (3,4-ethylene-dioxy-thio-phene):poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)/Au structure is demonstrated. An off/on fuse resistance ratio of ~103 was observed. It is revealed that the switching off process is determined by the critical electric field intensity. But once the fuse switches to the OFF state it will remain as long as the applied field is not removed, even if the field intensity is much smaller than the critical one. The OFF state can automatically switch to the ON state if the applied field is completely removed. The fuse working principle is attributed to the transition between the double electrical states of PEDOT, which is explained by the molecular orbit and energy band theory.
