  • Abstract
Stand Alone Solar Pumping System is being attracting the citizen of remote desert locations, especially, those far away from electric grid. Among them there are many owners of small scale agricultural fields which need a permanent water supply for irrigation and livestock watering as well as for domestic usage. In Direct Coupling Photovoltaic Pumping System (DC/PVPS), the PV array constitutes the expansiveness part of the whole installation; however, an accurate sizing of such system is inevitably to satisfy the customer´s request on daily required quantity of water with a minimum low erection cost. Throughout this work, a proposed comparative study based on Water Max A 64 DC pump (MPP=300W) performances, PV powered by four Isofoton (110W/24V) modules, has been carried out. The main goal is to determine with a selected PV generator design, the optimum total mano-metric height (TMH), suitable to drawdown the demanded quantity of water, on different boreholes of Ghardaia region. Under the real outdoor conditions of the site, the pump has been put into test, at different heads by mean of the PV pumping test bench. Following the treatment of the experimental results, the pump efficiency and the daily cumulative water corresponding to each head were calculated. A data sheet involves the appropriate region and the corresponding optimum head, suitable to extract the demanded daily volume of water has been concluded.
