Abstract
Frequency is an important parameter in power system monitoring, control, and protection. This paper presents fast and efficient methods to estimate the frequency of power system signal using spectral peak location algorithm under noisy condition and in the presence of harmonics as well. These techniques are based on computing discrete Fourier transform of the power line signal and fractional correction factor, which are used to exactly locate the spectral peak. The simulation results prove the efficiency of these techniques in estimating the fundamental and harmonics of the power line frequency with high accuracy. These methods are fast, accurate and could be easily implemented.
