Abstract
In the present study, the repeated dose toxicities of three-sized 70, 110 and 260 nm SNs were demonstrated after intravenous injection in mice. ALT and AST were elevated in three-sized SN treated mice at 50 mg/kg, however, levels in vehicle and 5 mg/kg were comparably low. Histological analysis revealed lymphocytic infiltration and silicotic nodular like lesion in liver of high-dose SNs treated mice. Collagen fibers were observed around the silicotic nodular lesion, and hydroxyproline in liver increased dramatically. Serum biochemical index and morphological changes showed hepatotoxicity of SNs followed dose-dependent relationship.
