Abstract
The present article shows how a model of diffusion, applied to the migration of a substance from a layer of polymer to multiple layers which are in contact, can be improved by parallelization methods, when the model is used for a large scale simulation. We present briefly the mathematical description, and then the benefits obtained in execution time when we use the OpenMP standard for the application. The simulation is run on a shared-memory system which has multiple physical cores, and allows multithreading.
