Abstract
A single patch antenna and a four-patch antenna array made on textile are proposed for wireless body area networks (BAN) operating at 60 GHz. The permittivity of the textile substrate has been accurately extracted using a simple resonant technique. In addition, a fabrication process is described in order to achieve the accuracy required at millimeter waves. This results in highly accurate, flexible, and wearable antennas to be integrated in garments. The robustness of the antenna characteristics on the human body is investigated using a skin-equivalent phantom.
