  • Abstract
Two biconical horns with different polarizer structures have been designed, fabricated, and measured, intended to achieve and develop wideband omnidirectional dual polarized antennas for spectrum monitoring applications. While one design utilizes metallic blades, the other uses a three layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) polarizer. The two schemes have been compared from the viewpoints of radiation pattern and return loss, concluding the latter to be more appropriate for wideband applications. It has been shown that while one structure is more effective for the frequency band of 2-18 GHz, the other seems more feasible for 18-40 GHz, mostly due to fabrication considerations.
