Abstract
The original domain-decomposition FDTD (DD-FDTD) method is extended to a two-dimensional DD-FDTD method, in order to solve the scattering problems involving a large computational domain. The scattering from both a cosine surface and a Gaussian-type rough surface are simulated with this method. The radar cross section (RCS) of both vv- and hh-polarizations is analyzed, with focus on the forward and backward scattering. The conventional FDTD method is used for comparison when the computational domain is small. The physical optics is applied for comparison when the computational domain is very large.
