  • Abstract
This paper deals with the determination of the equivalent surface conductivity of ice accumulated on an insulator during the development of DC arcs. This parameter was determined using an approach based on fluid mechanics combined with experimental measurement of the water film flow rate and conductivity. The derived equivalent surface conductivity was used to improve existing dynamic models to predict the minimum flashover voltage. The results indicated the feasibility of flashover prediction, using the equivalent surface conductivity obtained by the proposed method.
