Abstract
In this paper, demand-side management problems for electrical vehicles (EVs) are studied, by treating EVs as power and energy devices, respectively. Accordingly, power management and energy management problems for EV loads are proposed and examined. Our approach has two key features: (1) EV charging requests are classified into a relatively small number of load types and (2) a two-layer scheme is proposed to simplify original optimization problems. These features allow us to manage the computational burden even as the number of vehicles increases.
