Abstract
Tenaga Nasional Berhad is exploring the nonconventional method in dealing with fault current issues. Therefore, the intention of this paper is to present the results of a study which identifies and investigates the impact of the application of sequential tripping scheme, using a 275kV substation equipped with an out-door gas insulated switchgear as a study case. The study essentially attempts to identify potential concerns and explore suitable design, before finalizing the implementation solution for such scheme. Successful implementation of this scheme could save major cost by deferring the switchgear upgrading project to later date.
