Abstract
This paper mainly addresses the through-wall life-sign detection with the low signal-to-noise ratio in the Gaussian background. A novel detection approach based on fourth-order cumulant is proposed to extract the weak life-sign such as human breathing. First, MTI is adopted to reduce the zero-frequency clutters including wall echoes. Then, according to the characteristic of suppression for Gaussian noise, the fourth-order cumulant of human echoes is calculated. Finally, the cumulant spectrum with the clear life-sign signal is acquired through FFT. The real data collected by our through-wall-radar demonstrate the theoretical validity.
