Abstract
A new structure element (SE) named family of straight lines is proposed. Based on the improved morphological opening and closing operations, a generalized morphological filter using family of straight lines SE is designed. With respect to the different types of noise possibly encountered during power system signal acquisition, the filtering performance between family of straight lines and several common SEs is compared. Simulation results show that the generalized morphological filter using family of straight lines can not only suppress various noises more effectively but also reduce the parameter value scope of SE, which is propitious to solve the problem of SE selection problem of morphological filter.
