  • Abstract
There are characteristics of permanent magnet (PM) motors, both by design and by application, that create new challenges in certifying for oil and gas environments. To date, certifications of permanent magnet motors are being handled on a case by case basis. This paper will identify areas in the standards that require additional clarification or assumptions when applying PM motors.
