  • Abstract
    Utilities can experience challenges in addressing reliability improvements of existing substation bus schemes. Pacific Gas & Electric implemented creative bus modification designs for several air insulated transmission facilities. This provided for conversion to higher-reliability designs, either as stand-alone projects or coupled with other equipment replacements, and supported a longer-term program for replacement/improvement.
