Abstract
In this paper, we present a novel surface plasmon resonance based biosensor system using magnetic-dielectric core-shell-particles as movable biofunctionalized substrate and in a periodical assembly as electromagnetic coupling structure for an energy exchange between guided waveguide modes and surface plasmon waves. Compared with common SPR sensors, avoiding fixed connections between the biofunctionalization and gold surface is a great improvement. Thus, no harsh mechanical and/or chemical cleaning methods are necessary for a regeneration of the sensor surface. By using the particles as optical grating structure, an adaption of the coupling coefficient is possible and open new degrees of freedom in the sensor design.
