Abstract
Relay-based communication systems bring a significant number of advantages to the communication world. However, they impose more delay on the systems than do systems without a relay. We propose a method based on rateless codes to reduce their delay. We start by calculating the boundary region of coding-based relay systems and classical relay systems, and we identify the condition under which coding-based systems function faster. We then show that this region defined by this condition significantly depends on the SNR and packet length of the systems. Finally we simulate such a system and present the results.
