Abstract
In this work, we propose a novel low-complexity beamforming algorithm for Multiuser Successive Maximum Ratio Transmission (MS-MRT) towards space-division multiplexing in the downlink of a multiuser (MU) multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) OFDMA based 4G wireless network. The proposed scheme successively multiplexes several users on the dominant mode of each user while nulling the interference at each of the previously chosen users. Further, we demonstrate that the proposed MS-MRT can be naturally adapted to the context of various multiuser OFDMA scheduling algorithms such as proportional fairness (PF), Round Robin (RR) to maximize video quality. The presented results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed MS-MRT algorithm to maximize the video quality in comparison to the other competing multiuser MIMO precoding techniques such as BD, SO and Coordinated Transmit-Receive Processing (CTR).
