Abstract
Intelligent load management methods provide considerable potential for Demand Response applications in smart grids. There is a huge variety of options that can be used according to type of system components and aim of control. As a consequence, there is an increasing need for autonomous and flexible assessment tools in the planning and design process. In this study, a planning tool is proposed for analyzing success of direct load control methods in various tariffs. The tool is used for the analysis of several strategies´ management performance on thermostatically controlled loads and the investigation of the benefits for both the utility and the customers in different pricing tariffs.
