  • Abstract
ATN/IPS faces mobility problems of the airborne subnet. Based on analysis of the constitution and routing strategies of ATN/IPS, the paper proposes that ATN/IPS may adopt the hierarchically structured topological network. The MAP management domain divides handovers into the local handover and the regional handover. At the local handover, MR and MNs on the airborne mobile subnet have no need to send BUs to their respective HAs, to reduce the signaling overhead. The LFNs onboard will be added the mobility function which is transparent to them. So, the route between a CN and a MN or a LFN can be optimized in the same way to simplify the procedure of route optimization. The analysis and simulation results indicate that the proposed solution achieves better performance in improving the end-to-end communication delay.
