Abstract
The GN-model appears as the convergent result of many parallel perturbative approaches. Further investigation is needed to better identify its limitations. Analytical extensions and improvements are likely to be possible. On the other hand, validation so far seems to indicate that it already captures the main features of non-linear propagation in UT systems. The GN-model could provide an effective tool for the analysis and design of UT coherent systems. This presentation derived optimization rules could be helpful in operating the next generation of transmission-layer aware flexible networks.
