  • Abstract
    The shielding effectiveness of various types of tinted automotive window films (dyed, hybrid, metallic, and nanoparticle) with both high and low levels of transparency are measured and compared in an anechoic chamber. Results show that the visual appearance and depth of tint are not good indicators of a film´s shielding effectiveness. Incident signal attenuation ranged from negligible to about 15dB depending on the specific type of film, which suggests that window tinting can significantly impact the performance of wireless devices inside a vehicle.
