  • Abstract
    In a Dimensional Model of Data Warehouse, process of designing conceptual schema based on user requirements face some challenges due to data sources may lack some important elements. One way to improve schema is by utilizing alternative sources of knowledge that act as DW additional data sources. Since past few years, there are several researchers who present the use of Ontology to improve several aspects of DW. We proposed semi-automatic method that uses lexical ontology WordNet to enrich the dimension table´s hierarchy. The method uses Wordnet semantic relations between concepts to add new level of aggregation to dimension hierarchies. As a result, dimensional table´s hierarchy becomes richer. This paper proposed a prototype development to demonstrate the concept. The purpose of this study is to present use of Wordnet in enriching the dimension hierarchies through the development of a prototype.
