Abstract
The nonuniform electrical fields widely exist in the insulation components of power systems, which bring great technical difficulty and cost, as well as potential harm to the reliability of power equipment. The polymer composites with nonlinear conductivity or permittivity, which depends on the applied electrical fields, can smartly smooth the nonuniform electrical fields in the insulation components of power systems. In this paper, rod-plate electrodes were used to simulate the nonuniform electric field of the insulator. The electric field smoothing effect of nonlinear composite in different situation was researched and confirmed.
