  • Abstract
    2D/3D medical image registration is one of the key technologies in Image-Guided Interventions. Clinicians and researcher´s work can be greatly enabled by building a universal platform for 2D and 3D image visualization, processing and analysis. In this paper, we firstly review the currently available software systems for computer aided visualization and analysis. Among all these systems, we choose ITK, VTK and QT, which can run on Windows, Unix, Linux and Mac due to its cross-platform feature, thus can be called universal platform. Besides, procedures and algorithms for registration are also illustrated. Finally, we show one example of our already realized 2D/3D medical image registration platform built by ITK, VTK and QT. The system can be enriched and extended with various kinds of algorithms for 2D/3D or even higher dimensional image registration in future efforts.
