Abstract
The purpose of this project is to fabricate a material, using a novel combination of biocompatible and biodegradable materials that is 3-D printed into an internal fixation screw model. In vitro degradation testing, as well as various mechanical testing specified by ASTM Standards, were used to ensure that the material has excellent mechanical properties that can withstand heavy load-bearing, and chemical properties that allow the material to degrade at a rate paralleled to the rate at which the surrounding bone and tissue heals.
