Abstract
In this paper, the author highlight challenges and opportunities in the currently ongoing HAMR media development. This will include moving from spherical grains to vertically more columnar and laterally more Voronoi-shaped grain growth, reducing the number of misaligned in-plane grains in the media layer for obtaining full remanent moment, lowering sigma TC distributions and identifying possible sources of undesired sigma T distributions.
