Abstract
To meet the requirement of high coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets in various applications of traction motors and wind power generators, substitution of Dy or Tb for Nd is essential [1, 2]. Through electrophoretic deposition (EPD), we first use the weight ratio of the DyF3 coatings and the magnet to characterize accurately the effective content of Dy in the GBDP magnets. Here we systematically investigate the magnetic and microstructural property changes of the DyF3-coated sintered Nd-Fe-B magnet as a function of the effective DyF3 content and study the mechanism of coercivity enhancement.
