Abstract
This study investigates the strain effect on phase separation in Pr0.7(Ca0.6Sr0.4)0.3MnO3 (PCSMO) thin films using electron spin resonance. At high temperature well above the Curie temperature of the bulk PCSMO, only a single broad Lorentzian paramagnetic resonance (PMR) line is observed. At low temperatures, the complex ESR signal consisting of multiple resonance lines is a hallmark of intrinsic magnetic phase separation in PCSMO. With decreasing temperature, the central resonance field shifts to lower magnetic field, indicating the development of ferromagnetic correlations. The effect of in-plane tensile and compressive strains on the double exchange interaction of the material is discussed.
