  • Abstract
    The diffusion of grids generated by power electronic converters in which no rotating generators are present is growing day by day. In these grids, in case of fault, the maximum current is limited by the control of the converter. For this reason, traditional protections based on high current detection could fail. The risk of failure in fault detection is higher in single phase grids. In order to solve this problem different solutions have been proposed in literature. In this paper, the possibility of using a storage system connected to the network by means of an auxiliary power converter is investigated. In order to reduce the cost of the solution an half bridge single phase converter is used and a control strategy is presented. The results obtained by means of numerical simulations prove the effectiveness of the proposed solution.
