  • Abstract
The two-dimensional scattering of a plane wave from an arbitrary arrangement of infinite cylinders in two dielectric half-spaces is considered. The electromagnetic fields are decomposed into cylindrical waves so that the boundary conditions for the cylinders can be satisfied directly. The boundary conditions for the planar interface separating the two dielectric half-spaces are addressed by decomposing the cylindrical waves into plane waves and applying the planar reflection/transmission coefficients. This decomposition produces integrals that can be evaluated numerically. When the cylinders are significantly separated from the planar interface, the method of stationary phase can be used to approximate the integrals.
