Abstract
A new, adaptive approach for generating absorbing boundary conditions (ABC´s) for electromagnetic scattering is proposed. The main advantage of this method is that it converges to the exact solution of open electromagnetic field problems in a few iterations. Combined with the finite element method it produces a sparse and symmetric coefficient matrices. It therefore provides a very efficient method for solving scattering problems
