Abstract
The magnetic anisotropy (including magnetic anisotropy by magnetic annealing), magnetostriction and relaxation of initial permeability (disaccommodation) of rapidly quenched binary (Fe, Co)-B and other metal-metalloid amorphous alloys, are reviewed. The magnetic anisotropy existing in the as-quenched sample is primarily due to anisotropic stress. A brief description of the origin of the magnetostriction and the induced magnetic anisotropy is also given. The disaccommodation is explained by the inducement of magnetic anisotropy via the free volume in the domain wall. The activation energies evaluated from the disaccommodation for Fe-(B,P) alloys reflect the sizes of the metalloid atoms.
