Abstract
The development of high-performance electromagnetic launchers and associated pulsed power supplies has led to the aerodynamic and structural design of new projectile types. The impact performance of monolithic railgun projectiles between 1-4 kg in mass has been estimated using Lagrangian hydrocode simulations at velocities up to 3 km/s. The simulation predictions are within expected bounds, based on existing correlations of experimental measurements of cylindrical projectiles of equivalent mass
