  • Abstract
This paper is describing an operational characteristics of low-Tc superconducting (LTS) power supplies considering the connections of superconducting sheets (niobium). An LTS power supply has four rotating poles, which produce rotational magnetic flux. This flux penetrates superconducting sheets and causes currents which charge an LTS load. While LTS power supplies have used only parallel-connected LTS sheets up to now, this paper deals with series-connected sheets type power supply. Two power supplies were manufactured in order to verify and analyze the operational characteristics using a 1.81 mH LTS load. The only difference between the two power supplies is hereby the connection method of the superconducting sheets. Experimental results show that the current pumping rate of the series-connected type is higher than that of a parallel-connected type.
