  • Abstract
    A new model for semiconductor rib waveguides is presented which provides fast and accurate solutions of the wave equation. The model has been implemented on a personal computer and produces values for the modal index (neff) differing by less than 0.006% from those calculated using a sophisticated finite difference program.
