Abstract
A kinetic code has been developed and used to model an X-ray preionized self-sustained XeCl laser. The code includes 120 kinetic reactions, and 29 kinds of species are generated during the discharge. Superelastic and electron-electron collisions are taken into account in the Boltzmann equation. The modeled discharge characteristics and the main laser performance are compared with the experiments. The agreement between the modeling and the experiments is very satisfactory. The code developments and the modeling procedure are presented briefly
