Abstract
The authors present the optimum block adaptive (OBA) filtering algorithm with a simplification based on power-of-two quantisation that reduces the MAD of the algorithm to be about that of the block least mean square (BLMS) algorithm. A new optimal variable convergence factor is derived for the simplified algorithm. The authors show by use of simulation results that the simplified algorithm is very slightly inferior in convergence to the original OBA algorithm
