Abstract
Fe7C3 thin films have been deposited on glass substrates in a radio-frequency glow discharge. At substrate temperatures of about 570 K, these films are crystalline, and exhibit columnar film growth perpendicular to the substrate surface. The coercivities of these films range from 280 Oe at 295 K to 1130 Oe at 10 K. Mossbauer-effect studies show that the iron magnetic moments tend to align normal to the plane of the film
