Abstract
This letter presents a compact broadband microstrip-line-fed sleeve monopole antenna for application in the DTV system. The design of meandering the monopole into a compact structure is applied for size reduction. By properly selecting the length and spacing of the sleeve, the broadband operation for the proposed design can be achieved, and the obtained impedance bandwidth covers the whole DTV (470862 MHz) band. Most importantly, the matching condition over a wide frequency range can be performed well even when a small ground-plane length is used; meanwhile, a small variation in the impedance bandwidth is observed for the ground-plane length varied in a great range.
